Alcaidesa Marina, Southern Spain, held its first ever Boat Show with great success, over the weekend of the 7th to 9th of September. The marina promotes itself as the “Gateway to the Mediterranean” and the objective of this first show was to help revitalise the marine sector in the region and to promote business opportunities in and around of the Bay of Gibraltar.
Alcaidesa Marina staff also organised other marine based events and activities which added to the event. These included a regatta, painting competition, cycling & road races, and an exhibition of Ferrari cars, which all proved very popular.
Tony Valbuena, the Alcaidesa Marina Manger said after the Show:
“Despite the difficult economic climate in Spain, we are delighted with the response to this first Show. We understand that all our exhibitors were pleased with the number of visitors that supported the Show and their businesses which exceeded all our expectations.
Next year we will build upon our experience thus promoting the whole area as a destination for leisure and small commercial vessels enabling their owners to carry out servicing or simply berth their vessel in a safe location”.
All the exhibitors have expressed their interest in participating in the 2013 Show and therefore we at Alcaidesa Marina have set ourselves the challenge of developing the event to encompass more local marine related businesses and further promote the excellent sailing facilities and services offered in the Bay of Gibraltar.
