BP GRAIN OPENS 4 NEW STORAGE TANKS

Sunny skies on Tuesday 7th August saw the official handover of the four new tanks at BP Isle of Grain from Air BP Engineering Projects Team to BP Logistics.

The four cone down, bottom floating suction, fixed roof tanks increase storage capacity by a massive 64,000,000 (64 million) litres.

Work was restarted on the site in December 2005, under Project Manager Linda Stanbridge, from Air BP. Soak testing and commissioning safety critical systems preceeded the official handover to BP Logistics.

At the handover, Tim Bingham, for Air BP stated “Credit should go to Linda, (Project Manager) and Paul (Terminal Manager) for for managing the the many contractors on site. More than 2,500 permits were issued and 200 inductions completed during the construction period It is a huge tribute to the team who were open to new, ideas to ensure safe methods of working and a key milestone for BP Isle of Grain”.

Paul Davis, BP Logistics Terminal Manager stated “The completion of ths construction project represents a significant increase in volumes held at Grain Terminal. We are one of the key sources of supply of Jet A1 into the UK, supplying London’s main airports as well as general aviation in the South East”
