BOURNEMOUTH HELICOPTERS & SOLENT SCHOOL OF FLYING ON THE MOVE
14/07/08
BOURNEMOUTH HELICOPTERS and SOLENT SCHOOL of FLYING, together with the Airport light aircraft handling facility have been based for many years on the South side of the main runway, approached by road via the main airport entrance.
With expansion plans well under way at the airport, the whole of the light aircraft handling operation together with the flying schools will move to a large new facility on the North West side of the airport, with approach via the West entrance.
The new facility will become the main base for light aircraft handling (planes up to 3 tons) at Bournemouth International Airport. It also offers an improved operations
area for the two Schools - Bournemouth Helicopters and Solent School of Flying.
For helicopters the new position gives immediate access to the HTA - the low level Helicopter Training Area to the North of the airport boundary.
For light aircraft, there is a large concrete arrivals apron accessed via either direct from the main 26/08 runway via November or Whiskey taxiways. Aircraft using this new facility will be taxying via the North side, clear of delays associated with increasing commercial traffic from the main apron.
Flight offices reception, toilets and briefing facilities will be on site, with snacks and refreshment from Flite Bites Cafe, nearby.
Gary Ellson, Director of the two flight schools stated “This is a great opportunity for GA based at Bournemouth. We have plenty of parking available, and all facilities are here to plan, learn and enjoy local flying. The move was necessary to improve facilities for visiting light aircraft. It will keep them away from the increasingly busy main terminal traffic, and more importantly allow them to position quickly for departure - away from the commercial jets”
BOURNEMOUTH HANDLING
Visiting light aircraft (up to 3 tons) can be assured of a warm welcome from Bournemouth Handling, where all their flying requirements can be catered for.
Full briefing facilities are available with instant access to flight planning, fuel and air traffic control. Your flight can be booked in and out from this point (PPR).
PLANE PARKING
We have a large secure area for plane parking available at competitive rates, suitable for planes from Microlights to Kingair’s and VLJ’s. This is a great opportunity to base from a large International Airport with all facilities. Contact us for details.
