DANISH YACHT -
HOLM CLASS FOR THE DANISH NAVY
24/07/07
Number 5 of the 6 Holm Class ordered by the Danish Navy, has just been delivered and named at Danish Yacht`s yard base in Skagen in Denmark. “Hirsholm” is the fifth patrol vessel to be delivered since the construction programme began in October 2004.
At just under 29 metres in overall length, two of the patrol boats are designed and built to be seismic survey vessels, two as mine sweepers and two as cadet training vessels. The two mine sweepers are called “drones”, which can be unmanned and operated by remote control from a mothership.
All six Holm Class boats are built to Det Norske Veritas approval and meet the exacting standards of the Danish Navy, with their fibreglass-polyester sandwich construction.
Representatives from the Danish Navy attended the
most recent delivery and naming ceremony at Danish
Yacht in Skagen and expressed their thanks and
admiration for the standard of build quality and
attention to detail in all five vessels now handed over
for delivery.
Hull number 6 is due for delivery within the time deadlines before the end of 2007. Per Hesselbæk, Managing Director of Danish Yacht, was delighted at the launch and said, “We have had a number of approaches from other foreign Navies, having seen the standard of our in-house design team, the build and top quality finish in these 6 patrol vessels.
We have enjoyed working with the Danish Navy very much on this project and look forward to working with them again on other projects.”
At the moment Danish Yacht is producing the last vessel in the series, and the yard is following the production plan meaning, that this vessel also will be delivered in time as scheduled to her owners by the end of 2007.
