AUSTRALIAN COMPANY APPOINTED FOR SPECIAL BUILD PROJECT
26/02/08
Danish Yacht are delighted to announce the appointment of Mould Cam in Queensland, Australia to
supply CAD CAM moulds for their new build number 116, the Espen Oeino designed 38m jet propelled
dayboat.
With her carbon fibre hull, giving a weight saving of at least 25% over conventional composite build,
this exciting dayboat is powered by twin diesel engines and will have an astonishing stopping from 50
knots of about 3 boat lengths.
Danish Yacht has ordered high temperature moulds which are to be capable of withstanding baking
temperatures of 90 degrees centigrade. The extent of the moulds is over 700 square metres of surface,
covering all curved surfaces of the 38m 50 plus knot vessel.
Per Hesselbaek, Managing Director of Danish Yacht said, “We are delighted to have Mould Cam
working alongside us for this prestigious project, which has generated a lot of interest worldwide. With
their impressive client list including Ellen McArthur, McConaghy Yachts of Australia and Oyster Yachts
in the UK, they have a track record proving that they have the necessary experience to help power this
project to a successful conclusion. They have even made film props for the film “The Matrix” for Fox
Studios!”
Jonathan McDonnell of Danish Yacht added, “We are very excited to have Mould Cam on board for
new build 116. This is an area where we can have significant weight savings and also more efficient
and cost effective production processes, which will contribute to the overall success of this very exciting
project.”
