OFFICIAL ENDORSEMENT FOR HULL SHAPE AND PERFORMANCE FOR DANISH YACHT TANK TESTS
26/02/08
When the 38m dayboat, just starting build at Danish Yachts’ shipyard in Skagen, was tank tested
by the SSPA in Gothenburg, the report found the hull to be very stable at speed on resistance tests,
taking into account dynamic wetted length and wetted area. Wind resistance was also included in
the evaluation.
In addition there were no signs of dynamic instability such as porpoising, and it was noted that there
was very little change to running trim across the whole speed range from 0 - 65 knots boatspeed.
Danish Yachts were pleased with the results and Jonathan McDonnell commented, “We are delighted
that the 38m dayboat tested so well. Particularly, when the report stated that the performance is ‘better than average’ when put up against the base data of tested vessels of similar dimensions and
that the dynamic behaviour in calm water regarding trim change, stability and spray wetness is ‘superb’. You cannot achieve better than that!”
