ENDEAVOUR QUAY - THE SOLENT’S MOST ACCESSIBLE BOATYARD LAUNCH NEW WEBSITE
09/12/09

Endeavour Quay is pleased to announce the launch of their new website, giving comprehensive information for current and future users of the yard about facilities and onsite services. There is further detail on berthing, storage, boat lifting and mast craneage and a section with the latest news from the yard. See: http://www.endeavourquay.com

With one of the best performance yachting facilities in Europe, backed by an ‘Open Yard Policy’, Endeavour Quay is ideally situated at the entrance of Portsmouth Harbour, allowing access at all states of the tide. This policy allows yacht owners and skippers to commission work themselves or call on the services of the experienced yard staff or on-site tenants. Proof of this is the recent return of three Open 60s who, along with a Volvo 60 are now ashore with keels and rudders off, awaiting refit and rebranding. Two further 60s are expected back into the yard on their return from the Jacques Vabres Race.

One of the more historic projects in the yard currently is the yacht ‘Twink’, which is one of five surviving Nicholson 30s. She has returned to Endeavour Quay after more than 70 years for some renovation work to her hull, having originally been built in the yard to the masterful design of Charles Nicholson.

There are also currently a number of commercial vessels ashore at Endeavour Quay either undercover or outside in the yard. They include TS Royalist and TS John Jerwood, two large survey vessels, two 20 metre Royal Navy training vessels and a 15 metre Pilot Boat. All these vessels are being worked on by a variety of contractors.

A much needed facility at Endeavour Quay is the new chandlery branded “You Boat”. This new chandlery is going to stock a wide range of boating essentials from leading manufacturers and suppliers, which will include safety equipment, clothing, fitting out products, deck hardware and vital replacements.

The chandlery is aiming to further enhance Endeavour Quay’s established high level of service, by providing leading brand products at competitive prices.

The new Super Zero Maxi Ran II, selected Endeavour Quay as a UK base to attack this year’s yacht racing programme. This started with the Channel Race – 1st in class, 1st overall. They then competed in the Fastnet Race and won overall. The yacht returned to the yard prior to departure for the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup in Sardinia. Again she won her class overall.

After the Maxi Cup she went on to compete in the Rolex Middle Sea Race where she finished 4th overall. RAN’s experienced America’s Cup and Volvo Ocean Race crews have found the yard to be ideal for their work, with all services and facilities on hand for race yacht preparation.

RAN II‘s Captain, Anthony Haines stated: “Choosing Endeavour Quay was a great decision as the yard has the deep water we need, combined with all the facilities on hand allowing us to select our preferred contractors”.
