MARINA PREKO IN CROATIA - a modern marina at the centre of a traditional Croatian island
03/03/09

One of the best-kept cruising secrets is found in the middle of the Dalmatian coastline, with its beautiful crystal clear waters and stunning backdrop of mountains. The ‘jewel in the crown’ of these islands would be the Island of Ugljan, which is a short hop from the port of Zadar. Right in the middle of the Island of Ugljan is Marina Preko, which provides a modern marina with all facilities, at the centre of a traditional Croatian village lifestyle.

The marina provides easy access to further sheltered water anchorages and is a great base for ‘hopping’ through the hundreds of islands, which form the ‘Kornati National Park’.

There are bars and restaurants surrounding the marina, and a modern shower block, launderette and bank for changing currency on site within the marina. Close by, there is a supermarket and grocery stores, along with a regular local market, offering fresh produce.

A regular ferry provides a 20 minute service to the main port of Zadar, from where it is easy to reach the international airport, where private jets and helicopters can also be landed by prior arrangement.
