Maintain Control over your Refit
17/02/2011
An important decision is to select the right shipyard for maintaining a superyacht, emergency repairs or even a complete refit. Solent Refit, under the management of Yacht Project Associates is on hand to assist at any level – whether overall management of a large refit or day to day advice on suppliers or helping troubleshoot a particular problem with the superyacht’s appointed project team, as a backstop resource.
YPA, was established over 20 years ago by Allan Foot, who has worked with some of the top management companies for superyacht refits, as well as direct with captains and owners. Allan and the team operate globally and are well versed in being able to assist with emergency repairs, refit or maintenance for large yachts, having worked on many diverse projects such as: the J Class yacht, Shamrock V, MY Shandor (54m), MY Osprey and currently MY Mary Jean , who is currently undergoing a refit in Palma.
Yacht Project Associates are able to assist and advise on classification documentation for MCA or other Flag State codes of compliance. They can also undertake producing a technical specification with a Captain and then assist in the management of inviting tenders from specialist project teams, to achieve the best possible results and price. Parts and spares can be ordered and shipped anywhere in the world and records maintained on the yacht’s official paperwork.
One major decision is one of cost and to any owner or his representative, this has to be one of the deciding factors. Solent Refit is in a position to provide extremely cost effective solutions for each project, whether for berthing, lifting and launching, storage or undercover work.
