Firstly, may I wish you a very Happy New Year, we had a really busy Christmas with orders exceeding all expectations so thank you for all for your custom. We have some special events coming up in 2016 where we will look forward to welcoming customers old and new.

Update from the Farm…

Finally we are seeing a much needed cold snap. This is fairly typical as I am off to Iceland for the weekend with friends so it is bound to snow while I am away! The fields are once again sodden and to me it doesn’t feel like it has stopped raining, particularly as we had such a wet summer, but Simeon assures me the water table is still not that high! Try telling that to our ponies that are now stuck indoors. We are still waiting for the scanning man to come and pregnancy scan the ewes so nothing to report yet. Fingers crossed I have got the dates right for our Lambing Live event on Saturday 2nd April as part of Milford Food Week. As usual David Long has done an amazing job creating a fantastic programme of events for us to look forward to.

Update from the Larder…

We have had a good spring clean and a further reshuffle which will allow us some more refrigerated space. This will mean we can increase our deli range and I can continue to search for new and exciting products – the best part of my job. I am now writing a blog, which is very much in its infancy, I do hope you will follow and enjoy my general wittering’s on my life as a farmer’s wife, mother and retail entrepreneur!

Producer of the month:
After the carnivorous excesses of the festive period I thought it would be a good time to talk fish! I met Hayley from Catch a couple of years ago and have watched her business grow from farmers markets to supplying farm shops and delis across the region. (I am pleased that we are still fairly exclusive as an outlet in this area) and we have become great friends. Many of the Catch product range have been awarded the much coveted Great Taste Award including our particular favourite Tantalising Tartare Sauce. Some of you may have sampled the fantastic range of fishcakes, bisques and fish pies when Hayley came along to the shop in December. The fresh fishcakes can be cooked from frozen and therefore make a delicious quick supper.
