Portafix Spring/Summer 2016 Newsletter

Portafix proudly opened its new premises in December. The staff were honoured by the presence of founder Adrian Emerson, who started the business in 1993 from his own home. The new site caters for a separate kitting area and assembly line, better supporting the needs of our customers. To compliment the new kitting area Portafix has also invested in a second curtain sider, allowing for larger deliveries.Portafix have just sponsored the local under 8s football team and we are happy to report they’ve played 30 games so far, losing only 6, drawing 2, and winning an incredible 22! Well played guys. Andy Emerson, Portafix MD, with Decklin Barrett, Manager of Andover New St FC U13.

We’re pleased to announce some new additions to the team. Justin Devenport-Pike is now our Quality Manager and Monica Ferro has joined us as Customer Account Executive. Steve Roche and Charlie Stewart have also joined the Warehouse Team, and finally Kevin Orchard is now part of the Goods In Team.

A former employee has recently taken a new career path but was keen to trial his new skills on a project for Portafix. In doing so he has created a short advertisement showing the Portafix warehouses and a snapshot of the services we can offer.

Our thanks go to Jordan Knatt for his hard work on this project.

Our new Quality Manager Justin Devenport-Pike is now part of our valued team and has hit the ground running in his first 3 months, being proactive in his approach by identifying and resolving any quality problems which may arise, ensuring that customer satisfaction is Portafix’s highest priority.

Justin has also designed a purpose built quality office/meeting room/inspection area, which Portafix were happy to invest in. This includes all new fully calibrated measuring and verification equipment to ensure that only the highest quality of product is supplied to our valued customers.

With the successful growth of Portafix, additional premises have been obtained of approx. 7400 sq ft, opposite our existing premises. This means we are able to increase our stock holding and provide a more streamline service to our customers.

We are able to stock a range of goods including fasteners, fixings and consumables including personal protective equipment and janitorial supplies. If you don’t see what you are looking for, please don’t assume we do not supply it. Let us be your solution!

We have recently expanded our operations and now have our own stores based at our customer’s premises. This has streamlined the process and means stock is always on hand at the customer’s warehouse, whilst being controlled by Portafix in the same way as a normal JIT system. Our Sales Project Manager Rob Rogerson comments:

“This has given Portafix the opportunity to take our methods of supply one step further by utilising free space at our customer’s premises. The manned on-site store will better enable our operatives to deliver same day, every day; this will be a true extension of our main warehouse and operate independently. This method will bring further opportunities for us to increase product ranges at this site with the customer knowing we will invest in the stock and continue to provide unique flexibility to our performance and supply.”
