Lisa’s Larder – June Newsletter

Update from the farm…
Apparently today is the first day of Summer – not much sign of it this morning! We have never waited to shear this late – but hopefully we can get on with it at the end of this week and warmer weather will follow. Our bottle fed lambs have just returned from their 8 week stay at Priestlands School where the students have done an excellent job of caring for them as part of their Walled Garden Project. We have one little girl called Daisy who I think has been cuddled far too much and is now set to be a new favourite pet in the Morgan household!

Update from the shop …
Lots of news and updates for you this month!

Our Keyhaven Lamb is now all over a year old and becomes known as Hogget – this is when our pure bred Zwartbles really come into their own. The extra time they have to mature means they are big and lean and full of flavour. So make sure you come and get some over the next two months.

Some of you may have seen the Broughton Water Buffalo on BBC’s Countryfile recently, we have been watching their progress with interest and were lucky enough to sample some recently. We hope to have some in the shop very soon and are very excited to become one of their retail outlets.

More exciting news is that we have New Forest Honey coming back in store, the bees have been feeding on local oil seed rape which is very popular in helping with allergies.

We are also delighted to announce that our Keyhaven Lamb is a regional finalist for the inaugural Delicious Magazine Awards. Very exciting and lovely comments from the judges. Next round is in London in July so fingers crossed!

NEWSFLASH – The Marquee is going back up on Friday! We love to make room for our friends and we are very excited that we will be joined by KemptonBranson who will be bringing their ‘Lifestyle Pop Up’ to the marquee to Lisa’s Larder.

Their current stock includes a small but perfectly formed casual clothing range, summer candles from I Love Produce – their scents of Tomato, Rhubarb and Mint seem appropriate for the farm environment, and their large beach baskets have already caused a stir in The Parish!

Jo from Whinwhistle Nursery and Cutting Garden is also looking forward to bringing her plants, containers, baskets and cut flowers. If you have a summer wedding to attend soon don’t miss her environmentally friendly petal confetti.

And finally we welcome back Catch who will have their full range of fishcakes and some exciting new products for you to try.

Producer of the Month

The Cold Pressed Oil Company is based in a listed barn in the delightful Hampshire countryside and run by the equally delightful Charlie. They produce award winning Pure Extra Virgin Rapeseed Oil from seed that is grown on their farm.

By using the traditional method of Cold Pressing, they are able to extract the oil from the seed and maintain all of its natural goodness. The result is a deliciously smooth, nutty flavoured oil that is the perfect accompaniment to any dish.

The company has grown and diversified. Extending its range to include two dressings, Raspberry & Mustard and Chilli & Garlic and an Infusion Range including Chilli, Lemongrass and Thyme and their ever popular Rosemary and Garlic oil (makes the best roast potatoes) This year has seen the launch of a new sauce range which we are really excited about. Tartare Sauce, Hollandaise Sauce and Tarragon Mustard Mayonnaise are all now available at Lisa’s Larder and thoroughly recommended.

And finally…
We are really proud of the produce we offer our Lisa’s Larder customers on our pop up weekends. As established farmers in the region we understand the value of provenance and quality in the meats, cheeses and all the other lovely goodies on offer and if you ever want to know more please just ask!

We are constantly searching for new products and if you come across something that we should know about please do tell us.

We are next open on:
Friday 24th June 9.30am – 5pm
Saturday 25th June 9.30am – 1pm
Hope to see you all at the weekend.
Kind Regards

Lisa & The Team
