Portafix Autumn/Winter 2016 Newsletter

Portafix have achieved a record year of sales of over £5 million, which is a real credit to the hard work that all the team put in.

Managing Director Andy Emerson comments –

“The staff always go the extra mile to provide our clients with the ultimate customer service experience. This has resulted in repeat and growing business, building a big future for Portafix.”

Portafix continues to grow, taking on extra employees in both the warehouse and the office, making us a 34 strong team.

We are committed to working hard to keep our customers happy. In addition, Mark Thorne, Kevin Orchard, Steve Roche and Charlie Stewart have successfully undertaken forklift truck training in order to keep the work flowing.

Portafix recently passed its ISO:9001 inspection with flying colours, without a single non conformance. The implementation of a new Quality Control Department in 2015 was instrumental in this achievement.

The quality of products supplied to and by Portafix is paramount to the success of the business and these results show our purchasing, inspection and sales processes are working in order to keep customer satisfaction at an all time high.

We tailor our supply service to the specific requirements of individual customers.

Kit parts can be delivered to each build stage either on demand or to a manufacturers build programme, or we can produce parts to drawings in a wide range of materials.

With customer growth Portafix are holding an ever expanding stock. It’s not just fixings and fasteners we supply but a whole range of janitorial, PPE, first aid and packaging.  In addition we offer a full kitting and assembly service, offering bespoke turned parts to fit the needs of a diverse customer base.

We offer a unique Stock Management System (SMS), with vast customer benefits and increased work efficiency. For more information visit our website.

New customers can always bring additional challenges and this was the case with one of our recent new clients. The client carries out refurbishments to vessels located globally. This involves shipping huge volumes of tools and consumables frequently at short notice. We supply our products directly into their two containers and three aircraft carrier boxes. We have reduced stock quantities and are setting up bar coding so the stock can be controlled wherever the containers are in the world. Then before it arrives back to the UK we prepare to replenish it in advance to ensure a quick turnaround.

Our client also use a large number of varied power tools, lighting and extension leads that require regular safety checks.  Portafix has provided the support with this, which required two 20 ft containers of our own,  one of which is dedicated to PAT testing  by our fully qualified staff and in the other container we hold the customers surplus stock that we free issue back to them as required.

For some companies this may have been quite a daunting task to undertake but at Portafix we don’t say “we cannot do that” we say “how can we do that?” and provide a tailor made workable solution for our customers’ needs.
